A Little Bit About Me :)

First-generation Afro-Latina hailing from Fort Worth, Texas, by way of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. I am an HBCU graduate from the ILLUSTRIOUS Howard University in Washington, DC. While at Howard, I was blessed with the opportunity to be an athlete on America’s only HBCU swim team and to serve as a captain in my final year. At Howard, I focused heavily on legal work, the sociology of sport, and on using sport to reach underprivileged communities in the DMV area. I believe that sports not only influence our media intake but also take on a personal role in our everyday lives by serving as a tool for community, wellness, and healthy competition. Post-grad, I’ve chosen to continue pursuing higher education at the University of Georgia, pursuing a master’s degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sport management, governance, and policy.

The world we live in today relies heavily on perception and outside appearance due to the popularity and influence of social networking and the portrayal of what we know as “dream life.” While I strive to attain my own dream life, I also choose to live a life of authenticity, laughter, and passionate pursuits, where I don’t have to sacrifice my love of all things silly and quirky to pursue these professional goals.

Education

Howard University

Between the years of 2020 to 2024 I had the privilege of attending Howard University in Washington DC. During my time at Howard I earned 2 degrees 1 being in political science and the other being in criminology with a minor in mass communications. Howard’s environment is unmatched and like no other in that as a student you are bound to become familiar with what we like to call the “Howard hustle.” This phrase identifies the work ethic and hunger of Howard students always looking for a new opportunity, ways to grow, or simply GET THAT BAG. Even while swimming at the division 1 level for the ONLY HBCU swim team in the world I found my hustle in sports media and community outreach by connecting with the inner city communities of the DMV area through drowning prevention clinics tasked with promotion of water safety and documenting it all through our various social media pages, platforms and local news outlets.

University Of Georgia

Athletics has been my passion for a large portion of my life. Although I started out as an athlete myself, retirement doesn’t mean giving up on my love for all things sporty and competitive. This has led me to the University of Georgia where I am currently pursuing my masters degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in sports management, policy and governance. The University of Georgia is home to 21 varsity sports and one of the most competitive and premier football programs in the country. I chose the University of Georgia as the next step in my journey because I believe that an institution that is engaged in so much tradition and excellence is the perfect place to build community and connection. Moving forward I would like to use the skills and connections I’ve gained to pursue a career in athlete public relations and athlete agency work in hopes to build global partnerships with international athletic associations and athletes that desire to play in the the United States.
